An invitation

There is a door in you that opens inward. You have passed it many times, on the way to something else. Today, turn toward it.

Sit down. Feel your weight in the chair, your feet on the floor. Close your eyes. Hear the room around you. Let the breath drop until it reaches the belly. Then go in, and let it happen. Go toward what tightens, toward what you would rather explain than feel, toward what you have no wish to be. Watch what comes. Do not correct it. It is the way down … and it is the only way through.

You will stumble. You will lose the thread and want to come back up with an answer. Stay. What you meet there is not only dark. It holds the life you have not lived. Where you stumble lies the treasure.

No teaching will carry you, and this is not a map. There is only your own way, and it opens only when you take it. Leave the known shore. Go down. Going inward does not take you from the person in front of you; it brings you to them.

Begin where you are. Right here.
